This entire business of reality creation isn’t a one-time thing. If you’re only in for one-time things, then you’re better off looking elsewhere.
Creating a life that you can truly say yes to from the depths of your heart is a practice, one which you take on every single day for the rest of your life.
And yet, it’s also something that you let go of and put in the hands of the Universe, of Source Energy, of God Itself.
It’s the irony of all ironies. That to live a life you desire, you have to take it by the reins and do your thing as only you could ever do but also surrender everything to the Infinity from which you, I, and everything else are part of.
When you’ve stepped into the feeling of what you want, don’t obsess about it. Get out of your own way and allow the Universe to work its magic for you. I know, I know. Easier said than done, but we’re not the ones in control here. At least, our ego isn’t in control here.
Here’s how that can look like for you.
When you’re struggling to figure out something at work but nothing won’t come to mind because you’ve been obsessing about it for hours, just give it up and go take a walk already. Or a nap. Or a week-long vacation so you can get your mind out of the way and just let the Universe deliver the goods to you.
When you’re miserable as hell having no date for Valentine’s day for 14 consecutive years now but you keep pretending it’s all good because you’re a strong, independent, and financially able woman who don’t need no man, just tell it like it is already. Admit even just to yourself that you want a man like no other man and you want a man like that right now. Yeah, well, he won’t probably appear on your doorstep right this very second, or maybe he will. Maybe he will. (I’ve seen it happen a few times when I’ve received a desire literally just two seconds after letting go.)
When you’ve been yo-yo dieting for years, losing weight and gaining it all back all over again, stop holding on to the advice you keep getting from other people and just listen to the world’s biggest expert on your body already. You. Ask your body what it needs and give it to her once and for all. The solution isn’t paleo or vegan or keto. The solution is whatever your body tells you to do. And if you could only let go of the idea that paleo or vegan or keto or whatever fad diet is the key, your body will finally work with you.
And if all else fails, go do something else. Seriously, just forget about trying to bring that thing you want to bring to life and find something you enjoy that’s completely unrelated to it. Because there’s no way you can try to not think about your desire and be successful at it. You can only focus on something else so you can let go of that desire and let the Universe take over.
I read a story a long time ago about a US aid worker who was detained by ISIS and eventually killed during an airstrike. Her name was Kayla Mueller and her family received a letter written by Kayla while she was in prison. I distinctly remember a line that will be etched into my mind forever. It said:
“By God and by your prayers, I have felt tenderly cradled in freefall. I have been shown in darkness, light, and have learned that even in prison, one can be free. I am grateful.”Kayla Mueller, in a letter written to her family before she died in an airstrike
This is what truly letting go is all about. It’s about complete trust in yourself and the Universe. It’s about having faith that everything that happens to you always happening for your own good. Always. It’s about knowing in the deepest depths of your heart that you are cradled, supported, and loved by all that is out there and in here. It’s about taking a leap into the darkness of the unknown, only to see in the end that there is light. There always will be. Because light is what you, I, and the entire Universe is made of.
